About Plaza 55

Building more than property - building community in South Los Angeles Vermont Corridor

Plaza 55's story began over fifty years ago, in 1968, when our family made a commitment to the South Los Angeles Vermont Corridor. Formerly known as The Hut, what started as a property investment became something much deeper: a generational dedication to community building.

This half-block property on South Vermont Avenue, just steps from Slauson, has witnessed decades of neighborhood evolution. We've been here through every change, challenge, and celebration. Our commitment hasn't wavered because we understand that true success in real estate isn't measured in square footage alone, it's measured in community impact. Driven by the needs and concerns for our community.

Our
Mission

To cultivate and elevate small businesses that uplift the South Los Angeles Vermont Corridor community. We offer more than just space; we create purposeful opportunities. Every step forward is guided by our commitment to making sure each tenant feels heard, valued, and empowered.

"Not every dollar is a good dollar. We'd rather have seven excellent tenants who contribute to the community than ten tenants who simply pay rent."
